Clarification on the Fascial helix

Saturday 20 August 2022 by Neal Jennifer, Patrick Chêne

In the concept of “Tensegrity Body”, we talk a lot about fascial helix. This helix has an orientation, the body asymmetry goes all the way there. But the official nomenclature for helices doesn’t go with our osteopathy and our comprehension of it becomes complex. Our nomenclature has to be inverted compared to the official one, let’s see why.

Body Asymmetry…

Dissymmetry in life
Monday 21 February 2022 by Neal Jennifer, Patrick Chêne
translated from French by Jennifer Neal; read in french 👉here👈 By talking about torsion or helix, we introduce a fundamental idea that goes against our learned habits. We always worked with a median plane which divided the body in two. A right side, a left side. A limb on one side, a limb on (…)

Tensegrity ?

Thursday 3 February 2022 by Neal Jennifer, Patrick Chêne

In collaboration with Osteomag, we are writing a few pages. Here for n°49, (https://www.osteomag.fr/boutique/le...), following Sonia Perdomini Gohier’s article.( N°2521, only for subscribers, French). I have done a summary on tensegrity here:

The Cranial Bowl in the New Millennium and Sutherland’s Legacy for Osteopathic Medicine: Part 2

Monday 14 September 2020 by Bruno Bordoni, Bruno Ducoux, Filippo Tobbi, Stevan Walkowski

Abstract

Cranial osteopathic medicine is practiced all over the world, respecting the dictates of the creator, Dr Sutherland. Despite the current manual approach faithfully follows the theoretical and practical bases that make up the cranial model of the last century, there are many scientific evidences that highlight the criticalities of the same model. In the first part we reviewed the role of the meninges and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), as well as we discussed some rhythms present in the central nervous system; these latter elements are the pillars to support the theoretical idea of the movement of the skull evaluated and palpated by the osteopath. In this second part we will review the mechanical characteristics of other structures that make up the cranial system, highlighting new perspectives for clinical practice, thanks to the most recent data derived from scientific research.

The Cranial Bowl in the New Millennium and Sutherland’s Legacy for Osteopathic Medicine:
Part 1

Saturday 12 September 2020 by Bruno Bordoni, Bruno Ducoux, Filippo Tobbi, Stevan Walkowski

Abstract

A theoretical model that does not evolve with new information deriving from scientific research, by changing the assumptions from which it was born, becomes a philosophy; the scientist becomes a scholarch. Cranial manual osteopathic medicine is very controversial, although it is commonly practiced, from the clinician to the nonmedical health worker. The article, divided into two parts, reviews the assumptions with which the cranial model was created, highlighting the scientific innovations and new anatomical-physiological reflections. In the first part we will review the synthesis and movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), the movement of the central and peripheral nervous system; we will highlight the mechanical characteristics of the meninges. The aim of the article is to highlight the need to renew the existing cranial model.

The "veterinary art" and osteopathy
Friday 4 December 2015 by Bruno Denis, Françoise Marzin Keller
Osteopathy is to medicine what dance is to anatomy or what oenology is to grape chemistry or vine culture. Which means it is close to medicine without being included in it. Osteopathy is an art as dance, which needs repetitive work on body technics, in order to accomplish a movement so fine and (…)

Body symmetry or dissymmetry? (follow up)
Friday 27 March 2015 by Françoise Marzin Keller
The last article was about physiological torsion which meant to introduce dissymmetry in the pelvis and the whole body. Let’s recall that according to this concept, the quadruped left iliac bone, and its sacro-iliac joint orientation, is more enclined to a forward and upward rotation, on the (…)

Body symmetry or dissymmetry ?
Friday 13 March 2015 by Françoise Marzin Keller, Patrick Chêne
We all know that dissymmetry rules supreme over the body. On one side, on molecular level, amino-acids are L and glucose is D... Symmetry is broken. DNA or collagen helixes are Alpha... Then, concerning rotation, one direction is favoured... including in body mechanic. To cradle a baby in (…)

Tetanus in a Rottweiler bitch
Thursday 3 April 2014 by Françoise Marzin Keller, Olivier Blonz
Baccara is a 5 years old Rottweiler bitch who is presented to me in July by her owners from the Saumur area, who are taking a few days of holidays in Brittany. The bitch is brought up to consultation because she has been salivating a lot and had trouble feeding since the day before departure. (…)
